Romney hasn't paid ANY taxes in ten years.

From the Senate floor... Harry Reid...

He’s refused to release his tax returns, as we know. If a person coming before this body wanted to be a cabinet officer, he couldn’t be if he did the same refusal Mitt Romney does about tax returns. So the word’s out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for ten years. Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t. We already know from one partial tax return that he gave us, he has money hidden in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and a Swiss bank account. Not making that up, that’s in the partial year that he gave us. Mitt Romney makes more money in a single day than the average middle-class family makes in two years–or more.

Yesterday...

We noted yesterday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told the Huffington Post that what he claimed was a Bain Capital investor had called him to say Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for ten years – without saying who told him this, or what basis there was for the claim.

Earlier today, he doubled down on the unsubstantiated claim with reporters in Nevada:

“I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination,” Reid said in a telephone call with Nevada reporters. “I have had a number of people tell me that.”

Asked to elaborate on his sources, Reid declined. “No, that’s the best you’re going to get from me.”

“I don’t think the burden should be on me,” Reid said. “The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn’t he release his tax returns?”

Romney is in big trouble. This will derail his whole presidential bid. You can't expect the GOP to have a felon tax cheat running for president.

I know you're being sarcastic, but it does apply pressure on Romney to display his wealth. Same tactic used on Obama re. Birth Certificate.

Yup, Reid = Trump. Except Reid is an evolved male with more feminine characteristics.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Gee... I must have missed that part where a Republican senator put something into the congressional record, on the congressional floor... about wanting Obama to release his birth certificate. And I further wonder... how did the IRS miss Romney not paying ANY taxes for 10 years?

Anyway... this will be the end to Romney's presidential bid. Instead of 4 years in the White House, Romney may be looking at 4 years in a federal prison.

And I'm not being sarcastic... I consider this to be a serious matter.

Romney ran both for governor and
President during the time period in question. I'm reasonably sure his financial house is in order. Reid is a moron.

Harry Reid? Time for him to retire, and take Pelosi with you. For un-truths, they are worse than Biden and Wasserman.

And almost half the income earners in this country don't pay any income tax either.

One wonders if Reid's libelous remarks are protected from legal action since he make his ridiculous allegation from the Senate floor. I wouldn't think that his repeating them to a "reporter" from Huffpo are, regardless of the status of his remarks from the floor of the Senate.

That's not political speech - that's accusing someone of criminal actions which have the potential to do harm to the reputation of someone else. When you do that you had better be ready to be able to prove that you were right. Libel is taken very seriously by the courts - especially when it is a Senator who is the source of the libelous remarks.

Old Harry better hope that Romney doesn't have a cancelled check in his records to the IRS that he could show a judge. 'Cause if he does, old Harry is going to be resigning from his Senate seat before the rest of the Senate votes to toss him out on his keister for shaming their august body.

Did I miss where Reid claimed Romney did anything illegal? Romney wouldn't be the first multi millionaire to have zero tax liability. That is what's wrong with our current tax code. If true though, it won't endear Romney to the voters.
