Romney's too smart to try to do something illegal...(At least until recently, I thought he was....Now, I'm not 100% sure.) But it would appear that he has used every tax-avoidance trick in the book, and if he paid ZERO in taxes because of off-shore shelters and other tax-avoidance strategies, the public has a right to know. Oh, I'm sure the Righties here will applaud that... The other people of the 99%...not so much.

Hey, I'm all for lowering the top rate to 15% and eliminating every deduction except for charitable contributions. Then the collectivists couldn't complain because someone else was paying a lower rate than they are. Given that half the country already pays no income taxes and the lowest 90% only contribute 30% of the income tax revenue, the rates for the lowest 90% could be reduced without much, if any, impact on federal revenue. Given that folks like Mitt are paying close to 15% already, it wouldn't be a tax increase on them either.

There's a compromise we can all live with that will prevent Buffet from paying a lesser percent of his income in taxes than his secretary does - which ought to make even the collectivists happy since this seems to be a major hang-up that they have with the current system.

For the record, Reid sucks. One better have some evidence before making such accusations, or risk being mistaken for a Republican. The comments about Romney's father are out of line and unnecessary, even if his dad DID say any Presidential candidate who wouldn't release multiple years of returns should be considered suspect.

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - in Mitt's case, the tree is on top of a mountain, and the apple that is Mitt is STILL rolling down, away from the character of his father.

You of course have proof that he is a convicted felon.

He has as much proof of that as Reid does that Romney hasn't paid taxes for 10 years.

Then Obama was stupid as well for taking a couple years to release his birth certificate and never releasing his secret transcripts. Mitts playing it just right by making the liberals look like birthers. If he did anything wrong, the IRS already knows it.

Romney doesn't have to release anything. Anyone with even a small amount of gray matter between their ears knows that Reid hasn't even the beginnings of a clue about what he is talking about. If you don't want to vote for Romney because he hasn't released enough of his tax returns for you, then don't vote for him. If, however, that is the primary reason that you aren't voting for him I think that says a whole lot more about you than it does Romney.

I think Romney handled this in precisely the right way in telling Reid to either name the source of his disinformation or to keep his yap shut.
