So Obama paid $2.5 billion to send a penny to Mars! It's used on the Curiosity as a focus device as geologists have apparently used pennys for years.



It's a 1909 VDB from the first year Lincoln pennies were made. It's worth about $5-$12. Had it been a 1909-S VDB it would be worth $500-$1000. Of course this particular penny is now priceless.

And in case someone is outraged, I was kidding about Obama...

I want one in green!
