A few undocumented individuals may get "legal" status that allows them to stay and work, if they have been here since before age 16, for at least five years, no criminal record, preferably with military service, high school and/or college graduate. They do not get a pathway to citizenship, and will not be eligible to vote. This just means that they are deferred for the time being from being deported, with the prosecutorial discretion to pursue those with criminal records, or those who are not productive to be deported first. So much ado about nothing.
