As governor Romney gave cars to welfare recipients...

The Boston Herald reported in 2011 that under Romney’s free car program, “the state paid out one year’s insurance, inspection, excise tax, title, registration, repairs and a AAA membership for cars that were donated to welfare recipients.”

“[T]hose who lost their jobs and ended up back on welfare were allowed to keep their free wheels,” said the report.

The car program cost taxpayers $400,000 in 2006, the Herald reported, but was defended by a Romney spokesman who said it saved the state $1 million over three years by reducing dependence on welfare.

“It sounds like a program that President Obama would come up with,” Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips told the Herald last November.

See Mitt is even more liberal than Obama. Vote for him today. He had Massachusetts's unemployment rate under 5% on his watch with a balanced budget. Obama had a blank check and unemployment is still over 8% four years later.

I was hoping you'd go there...

The ad claims Romney “reduced unemployment to just 4.7 percent.” Yes — Massachusetts’ unemployment rate went from 5.6 percent to 4.6 percent under Romney. But — the state’s unemployment rate was slightly lower than the national rate when he took office, and was roughly the same as the national rate when he left office. (so he did nothing spectacular with the state unemployment rate that pretty much mirrored the national unemployment rate)

The ad claims Romney “balanced every budget without raising taxes.” Yes — Romney never raised personal income taxes. But — in order to balance the budget, Romney increased government fees by hundreds of millions of dollars. (Wow, he balanced the budget by increasing state fees by hundreds of millions of dollars. What a whiz!)

Are you hoping he'll increase federal fees by hundreds of millions of dollars to balance the budget, too?

I'll pick one of those "claims" at random...just to see if something is not quite right with them:

"Worst economic recovery in U.S. History"

There’s no evidence to back up the assertion, repeated by Crossroads GPS, that this is the worst recovery in American history.

It’s not clear where (Scott) Pelley gets the assertion that this is “the worst economic recovery America has ever had.” The rest of the CBS News segment focuses on Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, predicting that job growth would be sluggish.

A CBS News representative declined to comment to the Las Vegas Sun. A Crossroads spokesman did not provide any historical backup.

BTW, I love when you guys quote the MSM to buttress a claim after you talk about how biased it is. Rush does it all the time, too.
