Michelle Obama's 'Good Jobs' Claim At Odds With President's Track Record
During her speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night, first lady Michelle Obama painted her husband as a president who has created jobs like those held by her father and his grandmother, jobs they used to give their families greater opportunities.
“He brought our economy from the brink of collapse to creating jobs again -- jobs you can raise a family on, good jobs right here in the United States of America,” Obama said Tuesday night.
The only problem: that's a Lie.
The unfortunate reality is that most of the jobs created under President Barack Obama’s administration pay low wages. About three-fifths of the jobs created during the economic recovery are low-wage, while most of the jobs lost during the recession paid middle-wages, according to a recent study from the National Employment Law Project. More than 40 percent of the jobs created during the economic recovery have been in low-paying sectors like retail, food and employment services.
The lack of well-paying jobs may be one reason why growing income inequality has also been a problem on President Obama’s watch. Yes- the guy who says he's against income in-equality is the same guy creating income in-equality.
It's the POLICIES- stupid! Socialism destroys wealth, it does not create it!
Anyone who has been paying attention to the unemployment rate for the last 42 months knows that jobs are not being created at a rate that can even come close to compensating for the number of unemployed Americans. The truth is the truth.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
I agree that jobs aren't being created fast enough.....so do most democrats, so does Obama. But the trend is in the right direction and creating some jobs is a damn sight better than bleeding jobs at the rate of 800,000/month that we were doing at the start of Obama's presidency. I am constantly amazed at our instant gratification society, do it now......you don't turn an economy the size of the US on a dime, what matters is that you stop the headlong march to the cliff and reverse the course. The truth is indeed the truth.

It is intellectually dishonest to keep bringing up the 800,000/month job losses that we experienced during the financial collapse. I think the democrats like Ms Obama and others and even posters here just assume that the rest of us are as stupid as the average democrat.
Everyone who knows anything about recessions - knows that number naturally skyrockets when companies cut dead weight at the start of an economic downturn.
Many companies were cutting even more than dead weight during those months- as they saw their cash flow plummet. And actually the worst months of job losses came in 2009- after Obama took office.
To assume that the economy would have kept losing that number of jobs is just ignorance, we all know there was a peak- and then the numbers taper off.
But is was the government policy of bailouts and threats of tax hikes by the left- increased regulations and lack of leadership that kept the bleeding going when it should have stopped all together.
It was the anti-business atmosphere that Obama and the democrats perpetuated until the 2010 elections that kept the economy losing jobs - a few hundred thousand per month.
It wasn't until the election where we swept out the majority democrats in congress - did the job losses stabilize.
When Obama is voted out- we will see big gains in the job market again.
