(Reuters) - Finally, there is definitive proof: The presidential candidate was born in the United States, and his father was not.
Yes, Republican Mitt Romney appears eligible to be president, according to a copy of Romney's birth certificate released to Reuters by his campaign. Willard Mitt Romney, the certificate says, was born in Detroit on March 12, 1947.
His mother, Lenore, was born in Utah and his father, former Michigan governor and one-time Republican presidential candidate George Romney, was born in Mexico.
Whew, glad we got that settled. Oh wait, it's a certificate of live birth. Isn't that what the birthers said was not a real birth certificate when Obama released his? Where's his long form? And if his father was born in Mexico, doesn't that make Mitt a half breed??
I learned that my State Department (Foreign Service) documents aren't the form numbers required by Homeland Security to prove I'm an American and am eligible to work. However, the State Department website says that they will accept them and they are valid so that I can get a passport.
But, since DHS is a separate department and a cabinet post, does it override the State Department? Does this mean I can never claim American citizenship, since my documents aren't on the correct form numbers? Does this mean I can't get a new job?
