Interesting to see how thinking has changed. When Salman Rushdie dared to show Islam in a bad light he was defended by the West. The makers of the film that is killing people are being condemned around the world.

The film didn't kill anyone, and if a society is OK with murder as a response to a movie we should cut ties with that society until they pull their heads out of the asses and start acting in a civilized manner.

I agree, I think these people had their fuse it when the US killed Bin Laden, dumped his body in the ocean like yesterday's trash (which it was), and made sure the world knew all the details. This from the Nobel Peace Prize president who then spiked the football over and over as if he was critical to the operation. You can't display weakness on one hand, then act like a tough guy on the other. You will be challenged by the people who have hated this country for many decades.
Can you imagine the outrage on the left if Christians rioted and murdered over a movie like The Da Vinci Code? I've yet to hear any substantial outrage over these irrational attacks and protests.... they don't say they are justified, but there is no outrage over the ridiculous actions... the outrage is over this youtube video.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Ayatollah Hassan Sanei, head of a powerful state foundation providing relief to the poor, said the film would never have been made if the order to execute Rushdie, issued by the late Iranian spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, had been carried out.
Ayatollah Khomeini pronounced a fatwa sentencing the author to death in 1989 after declaring his novel, The Satanic Verses, "blasphemous", but Iranian officials later indicated it would not be implemented.
"It [the film] won't be the last insulting act as long as Imam Khomeini's historic order on executing the blasphemous Salman Rushdie is not carried out," he said in a statement. "If the imam's order was carried out, the further insults in the form of caricatures, articles and films would not have taken place. The impertinence of the grudge-filled enemies of Islam, which is occurring under the flag of the Great Satan, America and the racist Zionists, can only be blocked by the absolute administration of this Islamic order."

I agree, and I hope there are even comedies produced like "The Life of Brian". There should never be a double standard when it comes to freedom of speech... and to acknowledge that there is, is to give the rioters/murderers even more reason to be irrational.
