Hey , I am the first to admit I say Bite me or STFU. And I know I can be annoying. But the constant name calling and not one try at seeing the other side is incredibly frustrating. Here are some examples of where I do not follow Republicans.
I do not believe in abortion. But I also do know that making it illegal is impossible.
I do not believe that gay people should not have the right to marry.
I would have to say that socially, the people should decide. Social issues mean little to me. I want freedom for everyone to do what they want in that area. To me that is true freedom in democracy.
I don't look at abortion as a social issue.
War is not something I am in favor of but there are concerns in the world and I have some opinion on it.
As far as fiscally I am conservative. I believe in capitalism. I believe that we have laws to keep things fair in our financial system. And they have not been enforced. Enron was a huge failure with policy. If we were to get some control on the existing laws we would not have to have as much welfare and help out there. I DO NOT want to see those that need help turned away. I believe in taking care of our sick, elderly and poor and bringing up our poor with education, mentoring etc. I see the world as a "lets add not take away' kind of way. I look at it that way in my business and personal life. And business is suffering. Fewer people are starting the dream of owning their own business. That is the foundation of this country if you ask me.
I am not who some of you dems are trying to paint me. Just the way it is. And I think if you got me wrong you have alot of others wrong as well. I just would love to see some see this from a bigger perspective and try to get some respect for the other side.

Consider this, the Left here loves our goverment which has chosen to pass anti-gay policies like DOMA and Don't Ask/Don't Tell which Bill Clinton signed which forced out responsible veterans and outlawed marriage to couples, but they continue to praise the man and even have to trot him out to defend the current mistake in the White House.
And the Left also loves our government particularly when our current president has repealed DADT and refused to enforce DOMA as unconstitutional, and loves our former president Bill Clinton who is on record saying that the time for DOMA and DADT has passed. It is called progress.

I call very few individuals names (only those that really, really deserve it). I am honest, I believe that abortion is a social issue, it certainly is not a fiscal issue. I am not condemning anyone for having an opinion on it one way or the other, just curious as to why it would not be considered a social issue.

Okay, really I don't have a problem with semantics. I guess the way I would put it is this. I don't want to tell others how to live their lives with social issues unless i really do feel strongly that the practice is awful. I look at abortion that way. To me it is life and death.
Now don't get me wrong the gay marriage debate hurts people. I think of a gay man who was not able to be with the one he may have loved when he dies because of some red tape thing with a marriage or that they want to have those same rights and not feel different. But they are adults and there are ways to get around it. Just like I would not feel comfortable if that happened to me.
I have been described as a feminist in the past. But I think I have changed. I am not as militant about that issue anymore (it is still there though) because alot of the changes have taken place. I don't need to fight for it anymore. I believe that abortion should be the last resort. I do not like abortion and I do believe it is wrong to not take a father's opinion into account when deciding these issues, at the very least. And I take HUGE offense at the war on women sentiment now days.
We as women are enjoying much better conditions than in the past and I do not see nearly as much discrepancy (or any in some cases) as in the past. The reason I take such offense to that is there really is a war on women in arab and some other countries where women are really oppressed. I feel 'some' women are spoiled to even suggest such a thing that there is a war on women because they don't get what they want. They be a difference of opinion but there is no war on women. There are black women who are conservatives, and many women who are conservatives and are do not feel oppressed and work in the world. They are not barefoot an pregnant. Another abusive, inflammatory remark.
SO, hope that answers the question with a little more info.

I do too... At least we agree on that... And that's one of the (many) reasons I will not vote for those that wage it. That's also why the GOTP has a 13-16% deficit in the women's vote.
I don't have to fight for my own rights any more, but I will never stop fighting for my "sisters" who are still being paid less than their make counterparts, who still face discrimination when breastfeeding away from home, who still have the threat of their freedom off choice being taken away, who believe that contraception is as important to them as Viagra is to a man and should be covered by insurance. It's not about me anymore, it's all about those women still fighting to retain those rights that I fought for my entire adult life.
