Noonan was a speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
And more advice on Rmoney bumbling campaign strategy:
So here's one tough, cool-eyed report on what is happening in the presidential race. It's from veteran Republican pollster, now corporate strategist, Steve Lombardo of Edelman public relations in Washington. Mr. Lombardo worked in the 2008 Romney campaign. He's not affiliated with any candidate. This is what he wrote Thursday morning, and what he sees is pretty much what I see.
"The pendulum has swung toward Obama." Mitt Romney has "a damaged political persona." He is running behind in key states like Ohio and Virginia and, to a lesser extent, Florida. The president is reversing the decline that began with his "You didn't build that" comment. For three weeks he's been on a roll. The wind's at his back.
I wonder how many of the problems the Romney campaign is experiencing is because there is a disconnect between candidate Romney and the man Romney. He doesn't seem entirely comfortable as a far right tea party type, but accepted that persona to win the nomination. I think he would be more comfortable running as a moderate conservative, tough on fiscal policy, but more liberal on social issues. Playing the role of someone he isn't is taking a toll on him and the campaign.
I think part of the issue a businessman has as opposed to a presidential candidate is the 24 hour media cycle. In business, you have to constantly make timely, snap decisions, but on the stump, you have to constantly make timely, snap decisions, but the whole world is watching instead of just the board.

It's not like he is new to campaigning, he has run for office including president over many years, if he hadn't learned by now that what you say will not only be scrutinized but will have consequences then he is not as smart as he would have us believe.

The man doesn't have a core. It's not that he doesn't know what he believes, it's that he doesn't appear to believe anything other than what the last poll tells him he should say. The man is a “perfectly lubricated weathervane”. He doesn't know WHY he wants to be president...He only knows that he WANTS to be president because it's the next thing on his DO-list...
However, the Boca Raton "47%" video gave the nation what is probably the only glimpse of the REAL Money-Boo-Boo that we've seen. His contempt for anyone who is not part of his angry, white 1%-er entourage is palpable.
Noone on this forum is going to change their minds at this point...So, let the mud-slinging continue... I'm not voting for the GOTP...under ANY circumstances, and I could fill a couple of pages with all the reasons why I wouldn't vote for him--but then I'd sound just like the "Not Obama" crowd. They don't have ANYTHING except that RMoney is the "Not-Obama"...
Noonan? Republicans are famous for eating their own. Especially Beltway insiders like Peggy. "Real Republicans like Bushies wouldn't make these same mistakes."
Or maybe it was just "W" had more charisma than Gore, Kerry, or Romney?

Maybe she's been talking to George Will... (That famous RINO writer on the right...) He's fed up with the candidate too...
And this one is funny:
Herman Cain took a shot at Mitt Romney on Friday, stating that if he were the Republican presidential nominee, he would have a "substantial lead" over President Barack Obama.
“The reason is quite simple: I have some depth to my ideas," Cain told a crowd of more than 300 at the University of Florida as part of his “College Truth Tour.”
