Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was far more generous to charities than President Barack Obama or Vice President Joe Biden last year, both in dollar terms and as a percentage of income, tax return data Romney’s campaign released Friday indicate.
Romney and his wife, Ann, gave 29.4 percent of their income to charity in 2011, donating $4,020,772 out of the $13,696,951 they took in.
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama gave 21.8 percent of their income to charitable organizations last year, donating $172,130 out of the $789,674 they made.
Biden and his wife, Jill, gave 1.5 percent of their income away in 2011, with charitable donations totaling $5,540 out of $379,035.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
I don't consider tithing 10% to the Mormon church "giving to charity." And the rest are no doubt calculated to come up with a pre-determined deduction schedule to arrive at a specific, target tax-rate... Particularly, since they admit, and we KNOW, that they manipulated the numbers to arrive at the 14.1% rate this year...(Since taking it all would have brought them to a 9% rate...and that would have been "embarrassing.") Spare me...
In 2010 Romney made a tax-deductible, $1.5 million donation to the Tyler Charitable Foundation, which he controls. Commanding your own foundation allows you to curry favor with political and business allies by donating money to their pet organizations and causes. For instance, in 2010 the Tyler Charitable Foundation donated $100,000 to the George W. Bush Library. [The supply of coloring books was running low.]
Whatever Romney does the lefty sharks here will find something to slam. They wouldn't say squat about John Kerry marrying into money but condemn Mitt for working for his. Like bitter old harpies.

Oh, I have to save this quote...after nearly 4 years of constant whining, and moaning, and groaning, and bitching about Obama, here is a conservative who doesn't want his rich candidate picked on. If Romney can't handle it, maybe he shouldn't be running for president. And if you think this is rough, what ever will you do if Romney wins and he gets criticized for every little thing he does, like conservatives have criticized Obama? Good grief Fred....you sound like Romneys little mother hen....please don't hurt poor Romney.
And now you see why the unqualified and egomaniacs like Obama run. The smart guys don't need this abuse. I criticize Obama for some things and Romney for others but I try to be a little more objective than some here. Like Obama has done a decent job in foreign affairs. Has LJ ever complimented Romney? For anything.
They pick on Fox News for not being fair and balanced but then show their own lack of credibility by being unobjective partisan hacks unwilling to show their own in a bad light and/or admit the other side might have a good idea now and then.

I'll give RMoney credit for creating RomneyCare... He spends so much time running away from it, and flip-flopping over the fact that it was the brain-child of the Heritage Foundation, and various conservative think-tanks--before it became un-teabagger appropriate. But that's the ONLY thing I can think of to compliment him on. Everything thing else he's done has been for nothing other than monetary gain, and to further advance his political career.
He still doesn't know why he wants to be president...He just knows it's the next thing for his resume.
