Obama is being absolutely stubborn about the mythical fact that the Libyan attack was in response to some stupid movie. It wasn't.

Interesting. I had originally linked to Politico's text of the speech, but they left out this part:

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."

You can bet Al Jazeera will not omit that line. They will play it time and time again, out of context.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

Sort of like it's turning up here on rightwing sites out of context to "prove" he's apologizing?

Tower, I don't see where he says that anywhere in the speech. I think you made a jump there that doesn't exist.

Well, he didn't come right out and say it, but he said this:

At times, the conflicts arise along the fault lines of faith, race or tribe; and often they arise from the difficulties of reconciling tradition and faith with the diversity and interdependence of the modern world. In every country, there are those who find different religious beliefs threatening; in every culture, those who love freedom for themselves must ask how much they are willing to tolerate freedom for others.
That is what we saw play out the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well – for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and religion.

I guess you could try and not connect those dots, but you have to work at it...

Don't have to work at it at all. Do you forget that Libya wasn't the only place that saw trouble? In places like Egypt, the video was certainly the immediate problem. The fact that he didn't say, "Oh, but in Libya, the problem was al queda, not the film" doesn't mean there were dots to be connected.

The immediate problem in Egypt wasn't the film. The immediate problem in Egypt was a violent group of intolerant Muslims who stormed the sovereign soil of another nation and destroyed property belonging to it and a government, perhaps two of them, that decided to allow it to occur rather than take the steps to ensure that the demonstration was a peaceable one.

I'm still waiting for these words to come out of Obama's mouth "the terrorist attack in Libya". Maybe after the election when he doesn't have to worry about disturbing the sheep.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
