Mitt Romney Invokes Health Care Law: Nothing 'Shows More Empathy'

GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney touted his health care law as governor of Massachusetts on Wednesday, a move that tends to create awkwardness for the candidate as he tries to thread the needle between standing behind his achievement and criticizing the president's health care law, which is modeled after it.

"I think throughout this campaign as well, we talked about my record in Massachusetts, don't forget -- I got everybody in my state insured," Romney told NBC's Ron Allen in an interview. "One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance. I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record."

Romney's passage of universal health care in Massachusetts was one of his top actions as governor, but it's also one fraught with tension for the candidate with some conservatives. The Affordable Care Act, the law signed by President Barack Obama, is a major point of contention for Republicans. Romney has called for a repeal of the law, but his opponents on both sides have been eager to point out that Obamacare was based on Romney's framework.

Although he does not often discuss his health care law, Romney invoked it Wednesday during a broad attempt at damage control after a video released last week showed him dismissing 47 percent of Americans as "dependent on government" and saying his "job is not to worry about those people."

So, wait a minute... He's been running from this ever since the primaries. He runs from it in debates. He placates the teabaggers by using some lame line about "Well, what I did at the state-level somehow doesn't work/shouldn't work at the federal leve"...He turns the teabaggers apoplectic by suggesting that anything other than the "let the bastards freeze in the dark", "let the people with catastrophic health problem go to the emergency rooms" should be the dogma of the day....And now, all of a sudden, after destroying himself by telling 47% of the country that they are "not his problem", he suddenly does a Mitt-flop, Mitt-flop, Mitt-flop, and TODAY it's.....

"I can has empathy now..."

Honey, jus' keep doin what yer doin' ......

See, Mitt can be all things to everyone. He can pander to the 1% on one day and create a revolutionary medical care program in office. Obama's pre-election legislative record was unremarkable, and still is.

rofllol Tell me, is this the best there is or are you just getting lazy? ...to coin a phrase...

Spin, spin, spin, sparkie... RMoney's career is doomed with that 47% remark, and all the spin in the world, and "empathy" talking points are not going to undo the damage.

Wheras Obama can't even cater to his base, as African-Americans and Hispanics continue to have higher unemployment rates since he was elected.

The war against women? What is more important, free $9 monthly brith control prescriptions of the 10% drop in family income since Barack has been President. I know what I would choose over free birth control.

A) It would not be free
B) It would be a covered expense under private health care policies...It's not coming out of ANY government funds
C) It is none of your business...It's between the insurance company and the insurree...
D) You might try learning what you're talking about before you shoot off your mouth with talking-points and outrage-of-the-day that you obviously do not understand.

Oh, did you hear the one about the Bush recession that caused ALL INCOMES TO DROP before Obama even got into office?

Birth control is neither free, nor a government benefit...
