Prayers sent to their families, also to the many more wounded warriors recovering.

Presidents seem to age superfast in office and I wonder if part of it is sending men into peril.

I've heard the phrase "longest war" tossed around a few times.
I'm a little confused
Didn't the Vietnam war run 20 years?

(i.e. --- is this all just rhetoric looking for facts?)

1945-1975. 30 years? Or was it US combat troops, 1965-1973?

They used to have the documentary called "The 10,000 Day War" about Vietnam. (27 years.)

For combat troops on the grounds, I think Afghanistan wins, but if you look at the early casualty numbers, they were very small. Almost like the Taliban was willing to wait to fight us. Or thought we would leave after only three years.
