Poll: 86% of Americans - Government Spending no Help to Them

They're willing to bring sequestration on to themselves by ignorantly blocking compromise. They're willing to screw the middle class, elderly, and those who depend on the programs they've paid into all their lives. And the Randroids, sociopaths and 'baggers' job "is not to care about those people."

No revenue increase...EVER.

Then the religious wackos get into the movement, and they've got a whole 'nother agenda....

No, "most" DON'T agree with their ideas. Maybe a couple of years ago--but not now. I googled "Tea Party approval" and found that only 9% actually approve of the party; only 20% think you are rational...About 20% think you are wrong and don't agree...and approximately 60% think you are either nuts, and/or a major detriment to this country. In a few more years, they'll be relegated to the "fringes" of history and be remembered as the last gasp of the old, angry white guys, who are diminishing rapidly because of old age and obsolescence. They're selling nothing but selfishness, hatred and extremism...and younger generations are, for the most part, looking at what they're selling and they're not interested. Another couple of decades and it'll be but a memory.

Are you unable to form a succinct argument without name calling?

Just out of curiosity, how many tea party meetings have you been to? I've see nothing that you discuss at the ones I attended.

I'm not at all against increasing revenues, neither is the tea party. The question is, how you do it. We don't agree on how this is done.

Fixing SS, medicare etc so it is actually there for the youth today is what they want to do. Just ignoring it and kicking the can down the road doesn't work. Your idea of removing the cap on SS adds another 12.6% in taxes on everyone who makes over the current limit...that is a HUGE tax increase, and yes, this would increase revenue, even if it would be criminal for the govt to take over 50% of someone's income.

I do agree about the younger generation though. The liberals own the schools, and have successfully dumbed down our population thru public education. Our math education is so poor for the average American youth that they can't see that all these gifts given by the govt. will cease to exist when they are old. Will they wake up? Who knows. Addictions are tough to beat.

Many democrats want all of us to be the same....sad thing is, their level of the same is that we all are poor.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

You do realize, don't you, that you are doing only a slightly more polite version of what you are ragging on her for?

I saw no name calling. Just polite disagreement.
So...if a conservative even disagrees......this is considered hateful by liberals?
Just trying to understand the rules.

Maybe Obama & Biden need to do a better job educating them about how they have been bailing everyone out for the last six years with massive additions to debt.
Adding one dollar in debt for every three dollars spent. Thank you future generations.

Does anybody understand the rules? lol

Becky, "The liberals own the schools, and have successfully dumbed down our population thru public education" is not disagreeing. If I said, "Conservatives care more about zygotes than they do about the welfare of poor, already born children", would you think I was disagreeing with you or would you think I was dissing you? FYI, i don't consider what either one of them said as "hateful" so much as rude and almost impossible to respond to without slinging mud yourself. Doesn't matter who starts it.

Huh? Aren't the liberals all for status quo in our public schools? Aren't teachers unions huge supporters of the democratic party? Isn't it an easy connection to say democrats own the public school system??

Are you complaining about my statement that our public schools are dumbed down? Our students as a whole in this country are falling further and further behind the rest of the world academically. This is not a debatable topic. We do a horrible job educating our young, especially minorities .

Saying conservatives care more about an newly conceived child than those already born is a debatable topic for sure. I'd agree with you that many people are hypocrites on that topic. What I do know is that topic is so far down the list on what most conservatives care about.

I don't insult the messenger (typically) just the message.

Revenue will increase with increased GDP, one doesn't need to raise tax rates to increase tax revenue. Tax revenue will increase more by increasing the GDP than it ever will by increasing tax rates on a very small portion of the population; provided that the federal spending levels don't increase at a greater rate than the economy expands. The revenue problem we have is due to excessive amounts of spending and a virtually stagnant economy. Raising tax rates isn't going to solve either of those problems.

Compromise, as defined by Owebama and SFB, is do it my way. Democrats aren't willing to abandon their sacred tax rate hike on the evil rich folks who aren't paying their "fair share" in order to avoid imposing sequestration on the rest of us and are willing to hold everyone hostage to higher tax rates in order to get it. That's not compromise, that's blackmail.
