And now we have the Libyan ambassador being killed and "Argo" is being released this year, a thriller about the US embassy in Iran that took place decades earlier. Seems to be a recurring trend.
I can still remember the footage of those GI's being dragged through the streets. And I can't watch the movie, "Blackhawk Down", I just find it too upsetting.

I worked for a man who as a second lieutenant volunteered...of course, when they asked for volunteers he didn't know what exactly he was volunteering for...to go to Iran after they told all the families they had to leave quickly, to pack and ship the household goods from the houses. He said he was idealistic and pretty naive until this point...but the things he saw at that point changed him immensely. His stories were quite sobering.
Going into Iran during the Revolution must have been scary. But also interesting. I was pretty young when it was going on, but I would have to imagine Shah loyalists and their families weren't treated very well.
