Does anyone else see a problem with this?

Please, before the usual suspects pile on, the story about the missing child in Westminster is incredibly distressing and my heart goes out to her family. I hope they find her soon and I hope she is well.

But...neighbors letting law enforcement search their homes randomly without a warrent or probable cause??? Really??? Neighbors can't be trusted to check their own premesis, or can't be trusted to affirm that they haven't seen the child?

I mean I understand that these folks want to help w/finding her and everyone is agreeable to doing everything they can, but waiving their 4th amendment rights? Isn't that a little extreme? It's bad enough that we have the TSA goons, but now this???

Interesting topic. I don't know if I would let them search my house.

In Britain in a memorable case years ago, people were letting police swab their mouths to prove their innocence on a DNA sex crime. Guess what, they caught the guy with a swab.
