Why is there so much propiganda on this site?

Me thinks that "on that note" should hae posted this in "The Ring" to get a REAL feel of this site.

That's kinda the point OTN is making... the Courthouse really isn't much different than the Ring, just a different name.

And who is forcing OTN to read all those posts?

You just always seem to miss the entire point.

There isn't much else to read. The alternative......leave.

Damn I hate agreeing with Raees.

I commend the posters who want to create a better discussion.

However, over time I have learned that the ones who get the attention and response are the drivebys. Look at the command VL takes on the board when he comes in. Look at D4S/LJ or Raees or Shoeshiner. The board comes alive when they are posting.

I certainly enjoy and read Printsmith's posts and others but when they are long I pass. Better to post shorter to the point, kinda like drivebys and catch people's attention, often what Otis, Hayek and others already do. JMO

EVERY election cycle the vitriol goes up and the s/n ratio goes down as the election draws closer. Remember when the study shut down and reopened with a new set of rules? That was around election season.

That is just a fact of life on an unmoderated board. Personally, I pretty much know who's posts are entirely predictable and who posts things that might interest me. Based on that, I read skim or skip posts as the mood strikes me.

I know it is not all of you, but boy does it stand out. Actually making me feel much worse about my society, such a lack of actual content. I was ready to leave....on that note...but got sucked back in, I would love to see more substance behind people's perspectives...less insults and marketing for others agendas. I know those that take the time to be here at all have the substance, I am requesting just a little more time or perhaps a shift to quality time vs. quantity posts of the latest on Huffpost or Drudge that we all have already seen anyway.

Some people want to discuss - and others are just interested in posting propaganda. Take LJ for instance- she gets a tingling feeling all over everytime she scoures the leftist web sites and finds some little insignificant fact that might make a republican look bad. It really trips her trigger- take that away from her and she might fall into a deep depressive state.

Take todays propaganda post for instance- she was gleefully clicking through the huffingtonpost and found this little attack piece where someone got David Stockman to say that Romney Was A Master Financial Speculator- not a businessman. “He was a master financial speculator who bought, sold, flipped, and stripped businesses.” it says. LJ probably giggled like a little girl when she found that article!

So what! To me it dosn't matter if he was a big business man - or if he was just smart enough to recognize value - and was able to capitalize on it.

People did this with houses when the housing market was good- some even still do it today. They buy houses that they think are under-valued for some reason- they fix um and solve the value problem- and sell them for a profit. Didn't make them criminals- it just proved that they could take a risk and make a profit.

If Mitt was smart enough to find a company that was worth more as parts- than as a whole- I don't blame him for firing the workers and selling off the scraps. Some companies become obsolete- and need to be dismantled.

Somewhere in history - the last buggy whip company had to be shut down, while all the stupid employees screamed and complained about losing their jobs. Never mind that they would have lost their jobs very soon anyway because buggy whips were no longer in demand- someone had to have the good sense to sell off the manufacturing equipment while there was still some value to be recovered.

Anyway- you'll never change those who just post propaganda, if you don't like it- don't read it. You'll kill their reason to live!

I think you're missing the point Raees. Nobody is forcing anyone to read anything, but OTN is attempting to bring the level of discussion up to at least a middle school level. Honestly, I've got an 11 year old kid who looks at some of the posts on here and says they're childish. It is really easy to picture many of the statements posted here bandied about the elementary school playground. If you want to keep the level of discourse there, have at it, but don't expect me to participate.

TM, why not ignore the childish and participate at least at a middle school level or better. Unless you have the nazi police like another website, there will always be flybys. Ignore the outrageous and give a cogent response. There are some here who do just that.
