Why is there so much propiganda on this site?

What is the best way to raise children?

By example of course.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I tell my kids on a regular basis "Don't do what I just did... that hurt like all thunder!".

And if you don't care about the hateful tone around here, why even inject yourself into THIS thread? If the majority of posters decided to self-moderate and the drive-by hate fest became the exception instead of the norm, wouldn't you expect more new voices to join in? That's what I'd like... there's probably a whole bunch of people reading these threads but don't want to be attacked for their opinions. I'm kinda tired of the same crew on both sides just cutting and pasting images and articles and using those as weapons instead of making good original posts of their own.

So Raees, nobody is forcing you to read this thread or to begin acting more like an adult, but it's obvious that this hate-fest is beginning to wear on others besides me.

I see this the same as I see the Biden / Ryan debate. Putting the substance aside, who would you rather have a discussion with if you're trying to convey your heart felt opinion?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I only see a few hateful posts and I ignore them. And the reason I "injected" myself into this conversation is because I had an opinion to express about it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean I shouldn't post.

And who are you to presume what I care about or don't care about? (Your first statement) Your whole post is snarky.

Every time I've brought up this subject, one of the first posts is always "just ignore". That's all well and good, but it doesn't do much to bring in some new opinions from our neighbors who may want to add a fresh opinion. If changing the tone of this place doesn't innterest you, then this thread should also be of no interest. What am I missing here?

You're missing the part about someone forcing anyone to read posts on here.

It's like avoid porn shops when you go to town. You don't quit going to town because there are porn shops.

You just don't go in them when you go to town. That way you don't have to complain about being mugged inside one. (not that that has ever happened to me :VeryScared: )

And I think your blowing air up someone's patootee if you think your side will be kind to new posters once they find out they of a liberal persuasion.

I think you're missing the point Raees. Nobody is forcing anyone to read anything, but OTN is attempting to bring the level of discussion up to at least a middle school level. Honestly, I've got an 11 year old kid who looks at some of the posts on here and says they're childish. It is really easy to picture many of the statements posted here bandied about the elementary school playground. If you want to keep the level of discourse there, have at it, but don't expect me to participate.

:yeahthat:

Thank you for your post on that note, it is greatly appreciated!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
