Taxes and who should pay more (everybody)!

I think archer misses the point of the article. Middle class taxes. Taxing the rich and "spending cuts" are not enough with the big hole we are in, plus the aging population. Neither Romney nor Obama will propose to raise middle class taxes. I think the best hope is economic growth and reformed taxes, which means middle class and rich folks who are maxing out deductions and credits will pay more. Also control spending growth (entitlement reform), there are never any real cuts, just smaller increases.

I caught that point, thank you, it was not what I was addressing, but you probably knew that. I have always held the view that the Bush tax cuts were a huge mistake, and we will never balance a budget as long as they remain in place. But....I was speaking only to the line that anyone has claimed that raising taxes on the wealthy should be enough to lower the deficit and pay for promises. I doubt you can show me a quote to that effect.

Like TM said, show me the longer term Democrat middle class tax plan archer. Beyond just taxing the $250K crowd.

Is this another case of we don't have a plan, we just don't like yours?

You're confused, that's Romney's line.

Actually it sounds like both sides are going to force people to go back to paying the full social security rate.

It was actually Treasury Sec. Geithner's line.

I pay as little as possible. We left England because of taxes, But our liberal friends think we should pay more, more, more.
They should move away and start their own TAXED country because they are to lazy to get off their asses and take care of themselves.

IE: Archer, LJ, STDS

Yeah, that outrageous 3.8% on the amount above $250K, (which is what it was before) is such a burden...
