Well there you have it. Spend time changing report cards and everything will get better.

IN NOVEMBER 2014, WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND ONE-THIRD OF THE SENATE! DONT BLOW IT!

“When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles

Reminds me of when Deer Creek Elementary got rid of the honor roll.
We can't let those who didn't make it feel bad.

The very best school my daughter attended, and graduated from, gave no grades. Instead they taught kids how to learn, how to love learning, how to master a subject....not to get a grade, but for the satisfaction of personal accomplishment. I credit that school with taking a kid like my daughter, who was not doing well in traditional school, and helping her blossom into an excellent student....sought after for colleges, who went on to get 3 separate degrees....all centered around helping others in the medical field. She still loves to learn....is an avid reader and a well rounded adult. Other students from this school have become doctors, scientists, teachers, and as many varied careers as there were students in the school.

Grades are overrated.....learning is what matters....not just cramming kids with knowledge so they can get an A or B....but encouraging them to learn for learning's sake. It's as close to home school as possible in a school as you will get. Some of you may know it....it's the Jefferson County Open School.

Is it like Bongview.......I mean Longview.

I think we should change all schools to meet the needs of a few.

Put a kid who has no discipline at home into a school without a grading system and see what you get. I had a friend that went to one of those in high school (used to be by the Evergreen DMV in the 80s) and the guy didn't learn squat. He was there because he had emotional issues and couldn't conform to EHS so they put him there. We rode the bus together and I remember very well what that school did for him... it just got him a diploma and not much else.

Maybe this is how public school teachers should be taught, since when they get jobs, they are not compensated based on their performance and they almost have to molest a kid in order to get fired. That would be a perfect storm to ensure our kids keep going down hill. Competition is a good thing.. it's what made this country strong and successful. jmo

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Students will no longer see A, B, C, D or E, but rather ES for exceptional, P for proficient, I for in-progress, N for not-yet making progress or making minimal progress, or M for missing data.
...A lot of kids are probably going to be getting P’s

The way it looks to me is that B,C, and D is now the same as "P" proficient?

The problem with this is there is no "resolution" with this kind of grading. How can you tell what subjects you are stronger in if you get all "P's" in Math, Science, English, Home Economics, History, etc.

If most everyone gets a "P" it all looks the same, when it is not.

I agree grades are over emphasized, but making them all identical has problems too IMO.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
