Thanks for your concern...

It is cool that it motivates you, but I also asked if it empowered you and endeared you to the system.

I think it is great that you are donating to the Ohio election and also working hard locally. That is putting your money where your mouth is, usually respectible. I assume this means you are fine with people and groups outside of Colorado working hard and donating money to influence the election in this state, that one is debatable by some, but if you are in the camp that the vote goes with the money, then so be it. Odd given all your Rmoney talk?

But you only make my point more. In order to have real influence, you had to work on buying votes. That I don't like, though I am fine with you doing it (for now it is your money), I feel bad that we are all so disempowered by such a system that this is more important than a vote or your other legal protections.

Would you not prefer a system where your right to have an abortion or have certain types of other rights where no one else could change them with a simple vote? I contend that within a system where so much is subject to the will of others, or their representatives, that you could be forced to spend the rest of your life defending every right and piece of property you own. I often debate with Catholic Monks and as they would like a law that does not permit abortions, I ask if they would give such power to other to regulate such things, what if they get regulated out of existance. Though they recognize they can be practically analiated by their govt (don't deny it because they certainly don't), they want to do anything they can to stop the killing of other humans. For you is it anything, even forcing the vote around in order to get your desired results.

The system really seems to empower us to be on guard all the time.

What would you say if you met someone from Idaho bragging at the checkout at the market in Conifer about how they donated a bunch of money to get Romney elected in CO? I feel it is sad if it takes money to empower you or others. That means that many are not empowered. Most in fact. Perhaps some more govt programs to balance this back out?

You presume that because I donate that I somehow "approve" of the despicable situation of the money in politics we have now? Nothing could be further from the truth. The Citizens United decision was an abortion in and of itself, and I think we will see a constitutional amendment at some point to get the money out of politics. I find the fact that I have to donate money to candidates in other states to counteract the millions inserted into the process by the Super-PACs to be abhorrent...but necessary until it changes.

I also believe that it's time we put the brakes on putting women's health decisions, including the right to abortion, up to the votes of other people. I've only said about 1000 times, I want "YOUR" religion out of MY politics. You don't like contraception? Don't use it. You don't like abortion? Don't have one. You don't like marriage equality? Don't marry someone of the same sex. I should think all the Randroid/LIbrarians would be frothing at the mouth over that thought of THAT kind of government non-intervention.

Funny exchange between a British reporter and Trump's lawyer when the reporter asked to see Trumps passport info, school records and birth records:
