As Hurricane Sandy approaches the northeast United States, the left is attempting to politicize the storm, attacking Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), for wanting to shift more responsibility for disaster relief from the federal government to the states.

They ignore the fact that President Barack Obama's proposal for the upcoming budget sequester would cut nearly $900 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, including disaster relief, food and shelter, and flood management at both the federal and state levels.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Oh, you mean BOEHNER, KANTOR and McCONNEL's SEQUESTER PROPOSAL? Yeah... I remember than... And I also remember the reason why it came about...Because of the usual total intransigence by the Teabaggers....

And, no, actually, I WON'T be reading bullsh*t at "breitbart.com"...But thanks for playing.

You mean like THESE "cuts" to FEMA:

We have it from a reliable source that Mitt-the-Twit would just tell the whole East Coast, "Here's a block grant....(It's kind of like a voucher.)... Good luck." (Let the bastards freeze in the dark...and starve...)

Mitt Romney In GOP Debate: Shut Down Federal Disaster Agency, Send Responsibility To The States

During a CNN debate at the height of the GOP primary, Mitt Romney was asked, in the context of the Joplin disaster and FEMA's cash crunch, whether the agency should be shuttered so that states can individually take over responsibility for disaster response.

"Absolutely," he said. "Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that's the right direction. And if you can go even further, and send it back to the private sector, that's even better. Instead of thinking, in the federal budget, what we should cut, we should ask the opposite question, what should we keep?"

"Including disaster relief, though?" debate moderator John King asked Romney.

"We cannot -- we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids," Romney replied. "It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we'll all be dead and gone before it's paid off. It makes no sense at all."

Of course, like Medicaid, if the severity of the calamity happens to exceed the amount of the grant due to unforeseen circumstances, you can just send them a nice letter saying, "Sorry about that..."

Why don't you start a thread to discuss "Bureaucracies That Won't Die".... ?

This one was about lies from the usual right-wing blogs that suggested that an Agency that RMoney wants to see "go back to the states" and doesn't think the Federal Government should pay for, (i.e., die), is going to suffer from "cuts" that were caused by teabagger intransigence, and not by any "slashing" by Obama.

Deflect, Deflect, Deflect...Insult the poster....

Nothing new here, folks...Move along...

Sorry, just trying to be a realist. All you have is fearmongering. Look at the facts, social spending has actually increased under Republican administrations and is now at the highest percentage of GDP ever. And Obama hasn't helped this, he only creates dependents instead of jobs.
