NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s food police have struck again!
Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.
You just can't have Churches or Synagogues helping people in need. :bash :bash How can the government appear all powerful and all giving if other groups are allowed to participate.
[sarcasm]Who knows what people and companies were donating? Twinkies, Spam, canned soup!? What if 7-11 wanted to donate all of their big gulp cups in the city and provided a Slushie machine, one of those hotdog roller/cooker machines, and cases of hot dogs and buns!?[/sarcasm]
In a city where charitable organizations are composed of criminals because they help those who are less fortunate I support breaking that law.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
