Bill Kristol: 'It Won't Kill The Country If We Raise Taxes' On Millionaires (VIDEO)
WASHINGTON -- Conservative commentator and Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said Sunday the Republican Party should accept new ideas, including the much-criticized suggestion by Democrats that taxes be allowed to go up on the wealthy.
"It won't kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on millionaires," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "It really won't, I don't think. I don't really understand why Republicans don't take Obama's offer."
"Really? The Republican Party is going to fall on its sword to defend a bunch of millionaires, half of whom voted Democratic and half of whom live in Hollywood and are hostile?" he asked.
One of the biggest fights as Congress returns will be over taxes, as cuts put in place by former President George W. Bush are set to expire at the end of the year. Republicans want to extend those tax cuts for all income brackets, while Democrats want to raise revenue by allowing them to expire for wealthy Americans.
Wait a minute.... You mean.... Bill Kristol is saying that the Congressional Research Service Report on Tax Cuts For The Wealthy that was suppressed by the GOTP, that said that tax-cuts on the wealthy wouldn't have any serious impact on job-creation, or negatively affect the economy--(that was suppressed)--was true?!?!?!?!
You are pushing the views of an evil neo-con? Not only a neo-con, but the leader of the neo-con community. I guess politics make strange bedfellows. "Don't listen to this man on Iraq, but he is correct on fiscal policy."
But back to the topic, I would be willing to see some tax increases if it was a trade off on spending. Trim 2 dollars from the baseline budget for every dollar increase in taxes. And I would even support across the board cuts on the discretionary budget so everyone's ox is gored equally, but entitlement reform must be included.

Stop women from working? And how would you do that? Increase the tax credit for kids so that women could stay home? $15,000 per kid? That would eliminate a lot of unemployment if women or men did stay home to raise kids.
The GOP? The are probably thinking right now, why did we ever give women the right to vote? The re-ran some of the Presidential elections if women couldn't vote, Kennedy wouldn't have won, nor Clinton.
