Remember how the Republicans lined up behind each of the candidates other than Romney every week or so? They thought each of them was the answer, then dropped them to move on to the next shiny candidate. It was political speed dating.

It's a long time till 2016. Political fortunes will rise and fall between now and then.

Very true. In 2006, it was supposed to be a battle between Hillary & Guiliani.
But in 2011, Romney and Obama were the favorites.

Guiliani was actually a very liberal Republican on social issues. Would have been hard to be elected the mayor of NYC as a social conservative.
