Gee and I thought they were expensive because they are some of the biggest things manufactured on the planet.
It is nice of the Chinese to loan us this money, or we would be powerless, as we don't have the money to fund that boat ourselves.
How to folks who have taken the pride of service on this and other ships (thank you by the way) feel about the fact that such service would not be possible with just American funding?

Love your sense of humor, I got a good laugh from that one. During the days of the wooden ships, the men that were plankowners(1st crew onboard), were entitled to a wooden plank when the ship would be decommissioned and taken apart.
Blazer Bob wrote: I was never a plank owner so perhaps cpo7 can debunk or confirm this. I have always heard that the last plank owner to detach from a command became the owner or at least the custodian of the commissioning pennant.
If I had been a plank owner of any USN vessel and this is true I would have fought to be the last man xfering.
Never heard that one, but I do remember that when the commissioning pennant was taken down, at least on the ship I helped decommission back in 1979, it was sent to the Navy Yard to be put in the Naval Museum, same with ships logs.

Some day you and I need to go have a beer and talk ole times

My thoughts on this may not answer the question, but we never know where the money comes from, but we do know they are all American Built.
