You own it.

"Egypt: Cairo's streets are filled with demonstrations against Egypt's president. It sounds awfully familiar, but since the grievances are against an Islamist this time around, don't expect "the people" to enjoy U.S. support."...........

So what do you have a problem with? The Egyptian people elected this guy, now they are not so happy with what he is doing, so they are demonstrating, and already getting some results......that's a good thing isn't it? Where exactly is the US stamp of approval on this? And, what would you want the US to be doing right now?

If allowing the Egyptian people to freely elect the president of their choosing, how is that a bad thing? Last I heard, the neo-cons had an obsession with installing Jeffersonian-style democracy in every country, whether they want it or not. So, the freely-elected president made some moves that they don't like...(The idea of starting two unnecessary wars by the U.S. comes to mind...) So, now their Supreme Court is telling their president, pretty clearly, that they won't stand for it. Last I heard tonight, they have reached a compromise...

This is a bad thing, how....exactly?

Gee, a free people, electing a president, and settling things peacefully through their courts.... Yeah...I'll "own" that...

Team Obama is in a tight spot here. They like that Morsi helped to broker a cease fire and continues to support the Camp David accords keeping peace between Israel and Egypt but they are also upset with his power grab. Like the OP says I don't think Team Obama will push the issue publicly but they have to be pressuring MM behind the scenes. Meanwhile more Coptic Christians are fleeing Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood not so tolerant.

Gee, isn't the Arab Spring wonderful when a counrty gets rid of an American friendly dictator and replaces him with a terrorist friendly dictator? Obama needs to make more wonderful speeches in the ME because the last one that earned him a Nobel Peace Prize has really paid off.

It isn't, and shouldn't be, all about us, why can't we just let the Egyptians decide what kind of government they want, not what kind of government we want them to have?

:VeryScared: Have you even been paying attention to this? Egyptians died in the streets to throw out a dictator and after electing a new President, he disbands parliament and exempts his decisions from judicial review.

People giving their blood, sweat, and tears to be free only to find out the new guy is actually worse than the original.

It would be like going to bed after Obama won on 11/6 and waking up to find Stalin taking his place.

And meanwhile, the US diplomatic corp only mutters mild protests.

The Arab Spring replaced with SSDD.

They should tell it like it is and stop tap dancing around the issue. the Obama administration should CONDEMN MORSI at least as much as they condemned the maker of a video nobody watched and was not responsible for the deaths of our four Americans. Obama should gather up his tiny balls and make a new revised Cairo speech that speaks the truth to the people over there who don't want a worse dictator than the one they just threw out. But he won't, they'll use words like "concerning" and "troubling"... kinda like calling an act of terrorism "workplace violence". What a joke.

What could the US do? Either limit aid, we give Egypt a lot of money every year, slow the aid flow, threaten sanctions unless the Morsi backtracks on judicial review and restores parliament.

But I suppose you would prefer to see thousands more Egyptians die in street riots while the US looks on with benign neglect. "They are their own people, let them decide their fate."
Think we should have done the same in WWII? Europe's problems are Europe's problems. Hitler didn't attack us, Japan did.
