As soon as we learned Morsi backed Hamas, that should have been reason enough to cut them off. Let Iran borrow money to help them if they really need it... we won't get our money's worth.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Wow... It's fascinating to see your sudden interest in the welfare of the Egyptian people... (Too bad you don't feel as much passion for your own fellow citizens...unless they're in the top 2%...) Is that the new "talking-points"-for-the-day from the Rightie blogs?
I guess I need to follow the right-wingers more closely so I can be prepared for the outrage-of-the-day as it happens...
Lighten up Francis. Not an outrage of the day, more an example of the difficult choices you have to make in foreign diplomacy. Do you condemn your new ally openly? Wash your hands of the blood running in Egyptian plazas?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
The U.S. does not elect the president of Egypt...The Egyptians do. If you don't like their choice, you can't possibly imagine how much I don't care.
If you were actually paying attention to the NEWS instead of rightie-blog talking-points, you would have noticed that the president and the supreme courts are working on a compromise...Whether they do or don't, is none of your business...And frankly, while the U.S. may have a preference, it's none of their business either...
But thank you for your concern for the Egyptian people... (Which I'm sure will last until the next outrage-of-the-day is issued from whatever Limburger/Hannity/FauxNews/Breitbart cesspool that you follow...)

But I suppose you would prefer to see thousands more Egyptians die in street riots while the US looks on with benign neglect. "They are their own people, let them decide their fate."
Think we should have done the same in WWII? Europe's problems are Europe's problems. Hitler didn't attack us, Japan did.
This is not WWII....really Fred, you try to justify your own opinions with the most outrageous comparisons. Hitler attacked our allies....and surely did more heinous acts than this new president of Egypt has, and he is already backtracking......I am literally shaking my head at your post, talk about war mongering, you need to get a grip Fred. If you were president we would probably be attacking half the countries in the world.

Why shouldn't we have an interest in the Egyptian people? Unless we decide to not keep pumping money into that place, we have at least 1.5 billion reasons to make sure our "investment" actuallly pay some sort of dividends. (and we don't pay to have our own throats cut)

The Egyptian people elected this guy, now they are not so happy with what he is doing, so they are demonstrating, and already getting some results......that's a good thing isn't it? Where exactly is the US stamp of approval on this? And, what would you want the US to be doing right now?
I do not expect the US to do anything except keep the canal open. Obama called for Mubarak to go. Remember? The point is this is at least in part because of the "brilliant foreign policy" of the Pres. This was supposed to be one of his strong points. You own it. Meanwhile Ambassador Stevens is still dead.
I am not outraged, I am pointing out liberal hypocrisy. Save it. You have know idea how I felt when Reagan bailed after the barracks bombing.
Morsi actually made his power play after the US gave him kudos for getting a ceasefire done so clearly our state department is already involved with Egypt and Morsi. Might have been that Clinton gave him the go ahead to take over.

Yes, and 4,780 US personnel died in Iraq because Bush and Condoleeza Rice LIED.
And I'm STILL waiting for PROOF that the President of the United States "lied"....

More speculation based on nothing but your own biased opinions. Get back to us when you have some facts.
