The GOP Speaker of The House not only is having trouble getting Obama and Reid to sign up for his compromise legislation, big name fiscal Republicans also think his plan doesn't cut the Federal budget by enough.
Looks like a three way game of chicken.

Fiscal r's are being kicked to the back of the bus. Looks two way from here.
It's time to just let the Dems own the economy and own the "fix" that won't do anything but kill jobs and increase debt. I think the idea of Republicans just voting present (kinda like Obama did so often as Senator) is a great idea. There's no reason for Repubicans to agree to a bad policy and they have no choice. Taxes are going up no matter what, so they may as well just let it happen and then down the road illlustrate how much damage it did.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Mexican stand-off, moderates, liberals, and conservatives won't budge in any direction other than toward their own policies and proposed solutions. No matter how you slice it taxes are going up and Gubment spending has to decrease if the United States of America is to have as much chance as a fart in a whirlwind of even starting to reduce the deficit and turn the economy around.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

At the end of the day we lost seats in the House, we lost seats in the Senate, we couldn’t win the presidency, and the response is to purge conservatives,” Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) said Tuesday during a briefing at the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank in Washington.
“This is establishment thinking, circling the wagons around yes-men and punishing anyone that dares to take a stand for good public policy,” FreedomWorks president Matt Kibbe (whose group has its own internal issues this week) said in a statement.

I think it will happen, what is happening now is just for TV. They (all elected officials) KNOW that is the case

What will happen, the cliff or a deal?

I am starting to agree with WF. The polls show the Republicans will get the blame if we go over the cliff so Obama will get a deal that won't require much compromise from him. Expect it to be done over Christmas when the American public and press won't get much chance to check it out before passing.
