For those that strongly support the Democrat Party and have big heroes like our president and for those that strongly support the Republican Party and have big heroes like Romney or our last president....
what are some things that your hero could do that could make you turn on him or her. What is over the line, even though you support or supported them.
A decent example could be the drop in support for Bush after his second election (aside from election issues) based on the ongoing wars. Some conservative folks may mention such wars as being over the line. Another example could be simply loosing an election, even your supporters seem to vaporize - not just the support of the man or woman, but all the rhetoric too.
I ask because there seems to be team blinders on here and there, beyond the issues and I am curious how opaque these blinders are.
I believe it is time for the Republicans to start thinking about the people, and not just the rich or top 1% or 2% whatever it is. Seems Bonehead does not want to give in on anything. It is time for all of them to start thinking about this country as a whole not as a political division.

But does it really seem fair to penalize a minority with higher taxes when spending has increased way too fast. Personally I did think it was stupid for Mitt to run on tax cuts for the job producers, he should have pushed harder on cutting spending and using examples of redundant goverment programs that should be cut.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

I can only think of a handful of politicians who could be viewed as "heroes", but none in my lifetime. At this point in our history, I think we can only vote for the least destructive politicians and hope that the worthless media holds them accountable for their actions (or inactions).
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
I think that too many are sold on an ideology and a win at all cost mentality. Many have forgotten that government is supposed to have a limited roll in our lives. Our freedom is only as good as our government’s recognition of the bill of rights, and its recognition of the Constitution. For me any candidate or politicians that that tries take away freedom falls out of favor real quick.
As an example, I wasn't a big fan of Dianna DeGette but her introduction of HR6606 has given me a different view of what her motives are and she has gained my support because she is actively supporting and promoting freedom.
I am sorry I was not clear. For the sake of this discussion, people around here have major political heroes. You are missing my point.
Anyone that posted in support of Romney say 1 to 3 months ago. He was your hero to me. You can debate the use of the word, but that is what I am saying. You were following him, even if he was the best amoung worse choices for you, some of us did not have to go there.
LJ, Raees, and others have Obama as their hero, which is really what prompted this as they seem far far more consistent in that there is nothing that Obama can do wrong, there is a positive spin on EVERYTHING - even regressive taxation. I see the same sometimes from the right - more so back when GW was in office - I often say the repubs just as bad at information transfer and the desire to control other people's lives as the dems. For the politicians, I feel this is true, but for the followers, the democrat worshipers seem to be far more into their religion. Kind of like the Democrats are Orthodox and the Republicans are more Reform.
So to rephrase, for the republicans and democrats who have stood out in support of a candidate or office holder. What can they do to make you even make a negative comment about them, to be constructively critical, etc.
Statements like this may be appropriate - "I supported Romney, but if it were not for him, we would not have the ACA" or "I support Obama, but why does he continue to not push to make SS a progressive tax in stead of a strongly regressive one" or "I support Obama, but I wanted universal care and now I know that the ACA is the biggest barrier to such a thing" or "I support Ron Paul, but he is against abortion and I want to keep that right" or "I support Mark for Park, but not the silly law he passed where it is a $50 fine for peeling paint on my home, besides it is not enforced" or "I voted for Hick, but his opposition to pot is odd considering he made his money as an alcohol dealer."
Thanks for responding. I am just curious about those that strongly support anything, what it takes to limit that support or turn it. I ask because many people here spend much time trying to convince people that what they believe is not true. Some do it with lies, some with reasons, and some with posters or pics. I am asking how to do it better because the reasons, lies, and posters seem pretty ineffective at changing peoples' perspectives. Again, by my definition here, we all have heroes, perhaps desired leaders is better put, because people here can claim many things, but they cannot claim we are the leaders, so we must at least have those. What defines how allegiance you will be to yours?

Yeah, but clinging to no tax cuts for billionaires is what your party is all about...And now everyone see's it again- So I like this manufactured "Fiscal Cliff" drama. It's the final straw for the Tea Party and another nail in the coffin of the Republican Party..
