Obama's Job Czar says Communism "works"

Yeah, it works for the elites....everyone else is killing themselves thru pollution and unsafe work. Having a massive base of people who you control, and basically force to work on your exports is hardly an example I would use as something to strive for. Based on the experience of a friend who does business with China, it doesn't work for the ever day person.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Please understand, I'm not defending Chinese communism. I'm merely pointing out what the CEO of GE said was true.

JEFF IMMELT, CEO OF GE: It is good for China. To a certain extent, Charlie, 11 percent is unsustainable. You end up getting too much stimulus or a mis-allocation of resources. They are much better off working on a more consumer-based economy, less dependent on exports. The one thing that actually works, state run communism a bit– may not be your cup of tea, but their government works.

Same here, not saying that state run economies are desirable, just putting the remarks in their context.

speaking of state run economies, what are your thoughts on the State of Colorado giving $13 million to three companies to relocate here?

I don't think Mao wouldn't recognize modern China as a communistic dictatorship. More like a combination of state controlled capitalism and communism.

Population below poverty line: 13.4%
note: in 2011, China set a new poverty line at RMB 2300 (approximately US $363; this new standard is significantly higher than the line set in 2009, and as a result, 128 million Chinese are now considered below the poverty line (2011). Theindexmundi.com/china

Educators, analysts, and the state-run press have all commented recently on the plight of China’s college graduates. A 2012 Report by the Beijing-based education research company MyCOS Institute provides some numbers giving a rough sense of the size of the problem—experts agree that numbers relating to employment in China are generally not very reliable. That's exactly what it is. And it works well for them, which is what the GE CEO was saying. Look at their GDP and compare it to the rest of the countries.

Communism is alive and well! Just look at the present day state of the long line of nations that understand and embrace the ultimate wisdom of the Worker's Paradise:

Russia
The Union of Fewer and Fewer Republics
China
Cuba
Venezuela

Oh, wait...

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

China has so many people, I really do like their idea of swift justice: once someone is found guilty of capital crime (like drug selling/smuggling or murder) they just march them out the next day and shoot them in the head. No more crowded prisons. They execute a handful or more of people every day -- 4,000 a year.

I've skyped with people from China -- some regularly -- an they seem very happy. On the other side, none of them believe student uprising Tiananmen Square really happened and it was the product of the Western media. Surprisingly, our communications while discussing this weren't disrupted.
