(CNN) - A federal judge ruled that North Carolina's new "Choose Life" license plates are unconstitutional because the state does not offer a pro-choice alternative.

"The State's offering a Choose Life license plate in the absence of a pro-choice alternative constitutes viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment," U.S. District Court Judge James Fox wrote in the ruling Friday.

Saw it on the news. My first thought is that it is going to open the door to all kinds of options - Choose KKK, Choose Al Quada or Jihad, or Choose various religions including some from middle eastern countries. Should be interesting.

If you bothered to read the article, you would know that the alternatives that the NC legislature specifically turned down was "Trust Women, Respect Choice". The NC legislature was advocating only one viewpoint which was primarily nonsecular.

I wonder if they have an alternative plate to the "Live Free or Die" in New Hampshire?

I guess "Choose Life" might work, not that it necessarily addresses the same theme.
