Senator Greg Brophy (R-Wray) has authored one of the most discussed bills at the Capitol this session – a bill that would allow parents to buy drinks for their 18 to 20-year old children in bars and restaurants. On Tuesday, Sen. Brophy appeared on the Fox News Channel to explain the rationale behind his bill.
If young people (18 yr olds) started developing alcoholism from starting drinking at an early age, would be blame the parents or the people that make booze? I know that back in the day there were 3.2 bars, but our society is quite different now in that partying and goofing off are being glorified more.

BTW why isn't there a snowboarding smiley?????
Europeans don't binge drink like our colleges have taught kids to do.

Agree, and this is among other problems CG, fer sure.
I think the prohibition on alcohol adds a level of glamor to young people. If you learn to appreciate a nice Malbec or good 12 year old scotch you are unlikely to find binging on Everclear particularly appealing. My parents often served wine with dinner and would buy me the occasional Daquiri. I never had the urge to drink until I passed out. As long as ou were with your parents, no one seemed to mind.
I think a return to the 3.2 beer days wouldn't be all bad. Making all alcohol illegal until you are 21, just encourages the kids to binge on the hard stuff. If they grew up in the old days when it took a six pack to get a buzz...

Maybe parents could get their kids drunk enough to go sign up to die in our wars.
Of course this should be ok, they should be able to be adults at the adult age of 18.
I do not believe there is a conflict with any DUI anything by letting kids drink, there is no obligation for anyone to drive ever, esp after drinking.
Also if this is ok in Wisconsin, would it not be wise if the decision is based on some kind of consequence rather than liberty, to look at how it works there? I know Wisc has a less transient culture and stronger family ties locally, different flatter roads, so it is not really a great comparison, but it would be good data to consider - again - if you do not consider this a liberty issue.
I am also curious, how will confident family ties be determined at the restaurant table, as to not make the waitstaff liable for major infractions that may result from the people not really being the parents and this just becoming serving a minor who you knew was a minor.
Back in the early 80s I was a foolish young man who occasionally hit the 3.2 bars like The Rush on 6th and Sheridan and then drove to Conifer with a belly full of watered down swill. I wasn't alone in this stupidity and never had an incident but to this day I feel lucky not to have killed someone or myself. Back then there wasn't a huge DUI deterent like there is now and rarely ever saw a cop once I hit the canyon.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
