Pretty arcane information but a .75 calibre smoothbore is a shotgun if you want it to be. One of the favorite loads for the colonists was called buck n ball one large musket ball and a couple more smaller ones. Launching three bullets with one pull of the trigger. Like a shotgun not very accurate at range but it did a lot of damage at close range. Imagine getting hit by a round ball 3/4" of an inch wide. And your friend get half inch balls penetrating them and no one even knows about antiseptic. Brutal warfare.

Both the British and the Hessians were the best trained soldiers in the world at the time, and they fire back. Yes there were scrimmages when the revolutionary troops fought hit and run by firing hidden from distances. But there were also many actual face to face, army to army, full on battles. It’s right there in the history books. The Americans did not win many of those battles, until the turning point at the Battle of Trenton.
Yes, I saw your cartoon the first time... And what does ANY of that have to do with the FACT that the "NRA is protecting gun manufacturers, not the Second Amendment"?
When Obama’s liberal gay Muslim Kenyan liberty-hating task force comes for you, they’re just gonna drop a drone strike on your butt while you’re watching Hannity. Check with one of those veterans, you claim to honor, about your ability to fight back against one of those. (I hope the wacko in Tennessee finds out, first-hand.)

Nothing... What are you now, the thread police?

Some alliances work more for the benefit of one party than the other. Like the AARP, the NRA has become more of a trade group. I'm rethinking my membership lately. There is a lot of road between gun bans and total anarchy. The NRA has been tending towards weapon anarchy lately. Sane and reasonable regulation does not void the second amendment. I think with sane and reasonable voices we can find a sweet spot. The NRA has not been supplying that voice lately.
