We will never have equal life spans unless we all eat the same foods, avoid the same hazards, excerise the same, and live in the same climates with the same housing. If you are looking for equallity in life spans, I'll bet the best place would be N. Korea.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Life spans was brought up so I gave my opinion about it. But isn't that kinda the point of your first post... so many ways to die early in the US?

No, my point was with all the modern medical procedures we have in the USA, were behind other modern countries in a whole list of stuff __ countries that have socialized medicine. But God forbid we should provide for our citizens.

So those countries with socialized medicine have much higher taxes, are you willing to pay 50% of your income for subisidized medical care?
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Someone has to pay for that. At what rate do you want to pay your value added taxes, 20%?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Obamacare is already in place. I just can't believe some fought against health care for all Americans. It's part of the I get mine, get your own mentally of the right.

Or maybe it's just different points of view and not your assumption that conservatives or the right are selfish. I believe the HC bill was poorly thought out and was rushed through in order to get something instead of nothing. If the bill results in much higher premiums, rationing, loss of choices, and longer waiting, can we agree that the bill was poorly crafted or will supporters say "that's as good as it can be"?
Fighting for a good system is much different than your assumption that the right was fighting against everyone having health care. Remember when the left was fighting for anyone and everyone to be able to own a home? That didn't produce a very good result because they never thought it through, they didn't realize what would happen if all these new homeowners were unable to pay.
I think there's a more simple way to get the poor covered without jacking up everyone elses choices and premiums. My guess is that premiums are going to skyrocket at a faster rate than ever and Obama will get his ultimate wish of single payer. Of course the rich will still be able to afford private doctors and the rest of us will be sharing far too few doctors. Glad I got cancer when I did.

Since the Republicans didn't have any part in crafting the bill, perhaps they bear some of the responsibility. It's easy not to take part and then criticize the result. It's clear they don't believe in decent health care for all Americans, based on their actions and their statements. Their idea is if you are sick and have health insurance, you should go to the emergency room. The healthcare idea is more preventative, trying to identify health concerns before they get to the emergency room stage, thus saving money.
As shown in the chart, it works in other countries that care about their citizens, not just the wealthy ones.

But the article mentioned many other factors for the differences besides socialized medicine, my read was that socialized medicine was near the bottom for the differences.
