"Give them books and they eat the covers...."

Still haven't figured out that climate-change and "weather" aren't the same thing.... The polar caps are melting; the seas are rising; the planet is having freak hurricanes, tornadoes and storms that are wrecking the planet.... And every winter some twit says, "See! It gets cold and snows in the winter-time."

2012 was the HOTTEST YEAR IN RECORDED HISTORY as far back as records have been kept...

But you enjoy your cocoon.

Actually only in the contiguous United States was it the hottest year ever. For the world, it was only a Top 10 year.

And like BB says, there were a lot of record lows too. Twice as many record highs, but also record lows. But personally I am enjoying the global warming. Too f'ing cold right now.

It was funny on NPR this morning, they ran their story about the US being the warmest last year...and then followed it with a story about the Middle East having the coldest winter in decades and how it was killing Syrian refugees.

Hotter by one degree... statistically not relevant.

Look - I don't deny the recent trends in CLIMATE.

However, anyone that understands statistical models (that would include me --- my teachers wrote the software that researchers use ---- most of the software was originally designed for economic research) ---- knows that the statistical linkages between people and climate are not quite as significant or as dramatic as the hysteria makes them out to be.

Moreover, the projections are naive, at best --- nature has a tendency to find equilibrium. I.e. - there are natural offsets in complex systems.

Crazy talk? It is just crazy that BB wouldn't believe the slanted media, especially when they cherry pick the facts. Like why do they only sample the contigious United States? Why don't we always compare world temperatures?

Fact: we are again about 40% below average for snowpack this season for the Bear Creek and North Fork basins. Predictions are poor for the next 2 months and for a dry spring. Check for your insurance rates to go upand get ready for another intense fire season.

Fingers crossed for a few storms spread out over several weeks that will rival the March 2003 whopper. Maybe not quite as big as that storm but big enough that our fire danger won't be as bad as last Spring and Summer.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
