Why are we providing some of our most sophisticated weapons to Egypt?

They aren't that sophisticated. The export versions of this aircraft are no competition for Israeli jets. And there is speculation that we are trying to buttter up the Egyptian military so they just might complete a military coup against the Islamists. They are also sending them Abram tanks.

Perhaps there is a better way to butter up a country that just may use those weapons against one day.

But that would be common sense....

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Watching our government on these issues is like attempting to bribe a 3 year old with a gift to get them to behave.
Has that worked for many of you long term?

Has that worked for the country long term? Our "friends" are very few and far between in the ME. This administration (as with past ones) is bribing the kid before they even know the intentions of the kid... who could creep into our bedrooms and slit ur throats one day. If we want to stay out of other countrys' business, we need to do it in every aspect unless they are a true friend like Israel that asks for our help. Helping a country who's goal in Sharia Law should be a no brainer imo. (unless we're ok with how they treat women and gays)

Blame it on Carter. He promised Egypt and Israel billions in aid eternally if they continue to stop fighting. Morsi is hinting he might want to fight Israel. Could be an interesting battlefield American equipment on both sides.
