Colorado Governor Race 2014

The Denver Post had an article this morning saying the GOP is looking for someone to run against Hickenlooper but frankly I don't see anyone out there who could beat John. Any suggestions? Probably the only way to get rid of the current office holder is to have Barack give him a cabinet job.

I certainly don't want to get rid of him... I guess "doing a great job" doesn't count if he has a (D) after his name?

(Oh, did you get the memo...? We won back both state houses; the state went for Obama; and in Jefferson County we took back one of the County Commissioner seats...)

...And that birther, Coffman, isn't looking too healthy either.

I like Hick so far, not sure he is liberal enough or business unfriendly enough for national democrat politics.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

There you go again, believing the old tiresome stereotypes about democrats and what liberals truly support. Hick would do very well nationally, and his business acumen would be a big part of his appeal to democrats.

Agree. So far I think Hick has been a moderate voice. Surprised Dems here don't want to primary him. If the man has presidential aspirations would it make sense for him to go to Washington or stay here?

With him being business friendly, he'd play well to the moderates, but not to the extreme left that populated the OWS camps. Just like a pro-lifer wouldn't be supported by the extreme moral-right, but would be popular with the moderate republicans.

Maybe a Tancredo-type person? (I think he'd be defeated quickly -- but a lot of folks around Douglas county love the guy)

I actually think Ellen Roberts would be a strong candidate for the Republicans if she could find the political backing. A true moderate Republican, the Tea Party would have a hissy fit, and a non-Chamber of Commerce populist, she would not get backing from either faction. Fiscal conservative with a strong female point of view.

Hick, the beer baron, teflon pol seems a shoo - in IF he runs. The Republicans are is big trouble ...... actually an independent with backing may be fun to watch......a local with recent military experience who is liberal politically. Sen. Webb of VA is a perfect role model......DEM, ex-marine.
