So Secretary of State Scott Gessler, one of the few statewide offices held by an elected Republican, does it again. Remember this is the lawyer who immediately after being elected announced that he was going to moonlight representing clients on, yes, matters dealing with issues before the Secretary of States office, dropped an enormous fine against a county GOP organization, then announced that he would appear at a fundraiser for that same organization, and is currently under investigation by both the state Ethics Commission and the Denver DA's office for 1) using taxpayer's money to fly to Tampa for the GOP convention and partisan activities not related to his job; and 2) pocketing taxpayer's money left over in the SOS's discretionary funds.
Now it appears that he is committing crimes to raise money for either his re-election fund or his legal defense fund. He announced that he would, for a $50 donation, give out autographed copies of Westword that have an article about his shenagins. This despite it being illegal to take more than five copies of any free distribution newspapers, such as Westword. We must be so proud to have such an individual represent our state.

If he is found guilty of criminal conduct, as per the Denver DA, then I believe he will be disqualified and kicked out immediately. Of course he has now filed a lawsuit against the Colorado State Ethics Commission for investigating his actions as it harmed his "reputation".
