The Scary Truth About How Much Climate Change Is Costing You

All of this comes with costs. A 2012 study by the Madrid-based group DARA found that extreme weather associated with climate change is costing the world economy $1.2 trillion a year, destroying 1.6 percent of global gross domestic product. The study projects that the effects of climate change could cut global GDP by 3.2 percent a year by 2030.

If it hits them in the wallet, will the deniers finally face reality?

Sure, some places are suffering, but I think the deniers are more scared about the costs of implementing a plan to replace low cost fossil fuel energy production with high cost, undependable alternatives like wind and solar power.

Plus since only the West can afford it, the US and Europe will have to lower their carbon footprint to cover not only themsleves but also China and India who have been building new coal plants. Even Europe has increased coal consumption after taking offline old nuclear power plants.

So what are you willing to give up to lower your footprint? Travel? A cozy home?

I am giving up air travel this year.

So, as usual, the concern of the deniers is not what will happen to the planet, the coasts, the people who will be affected by the results...They're more worried about what they'll have to pay-at-the-pump, or for heating their homes. It's the standard Randroid refrain: "It's all about ME, ME, ME..."

Got it.

So Obama is helping out the enviroment by keeping the US economy stagnant? If you are still unemployed after years of looking for work, your carbon footprint is much smaller than the guy who commutes daily to work. Brilliant, 7% unemployment is good for the enviroment!

So, the GOTP is keeping the economy stagnant by playing their usual games of blocking every single measure, including the "Jobs Creation Act", because they're more concerned with their teabagger politics instead of what's good for the American economy?

Brilliant.

The economy is slowly recovering after eight years of abuse at the hands of the guy you all put there. Whereas he steadily lost jobs, President Obama has been rebuilding them. I'm going to give him the same amount of time to fill in the hole your guy dug in the economy as it took to dig it. Maybe if the Republicans stopped filibustering every single idea we would move forward faster, but even with the right actively obstructing, things are improving.

Yeah! Like the NIMBY's in northern Colorado banning fracking even though switching from coal to natural gas has done more to help the enviroment than solar and wind energy combined.

How selfish of those people to want to be able to drink the water from their own wells!

More ignorant? Please check at what levels water wells are drilled versus natural gas. I wish we could still find natural gas at water depth levels. It would be a lot cheaper for everyone.
