NRA Distances Itself From Controversial Remark
NRA Distances Itself From Lobbyist Who Spoke Of 'Connecticut Effect'

WASHINGTON -- Just hours after Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D) called on the National Rifle Association to "reject" a lobbyist's controversial remarks about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, a NRA spokesman effectively did so, telling Talking Points Memo that the lobbyist in question, Bob Welch, "is neither a staff lobbyist nor a contract lobbyist for the National Rifle Association."

Welch, the spokesman added, "does not speak for the NRA."

The brush-off came three days after Welch was recorded telling an audience at a Wisconsin state NRA meeting that the group has "a strong [lobbying] agenda coming up for next year, but of course a lot of that’s going to be delayed as the 'Connecticut effect' has to go through the process."

Welch was referring to the Newtown, Conn., school massacre of six adults and 20 children on Dec. 14, which has galvanized public support for stricter gun control laws.

You can't make this stuff up... I just hope that the NRA keeps sending these morons out to keep talking... Yeah, it's not about 20 assassinated first graders, and the 6 teachers that tried to save them... It's "The Connecticut Effect"... That's a much better political spin-term.

And then we have THIS Neanderthal representing the gun-nuts from last night:

Ted Nugent’s bizarre response to the SOTU

When asked what it was like sitting in the chamber alongside victims of gun violence, Nugent launched into a confusing rant about “engineered recidivism” and the mental health system.

“Our mental health system has failed so thoroughly that people who have threatened lives and conduct themselves in dangerous abhorrent behavior,” he said. “And have been alerted, the officials have been alerted by co-workers, fellow students, mothers and fathers of these mass murderers.”

He took on the president too, criticizing his “predicable, flowery, feel good, save the children, end world hunger insanity.” “And then I see him either do nothing, or do the opposite,” he said. “I feel horrible that we’re going after my guns, instead of stopping crime and dangerous behavior.”

When challenged by NBC news reporter Luke Russert over comments he made last year, comparing Democrats like Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton to coyotes who deserve to be shot, Nugent became agitated, cursing at Russert and calling him a liar in vulgar terms.

When Russert pressed him to explain what he said, Nugent repeatedly claimed he “never said that,” even though he can be seen on camera comparing those Democrats to coyotes who deserve to be shot and have their heads chopped off.

Ooopsie... "Never said that"???? Dumb thing to say in the Age of YouTube and videotape...

They can't POSSIBLY know how much I want them to KEEP DOING THIS... They've already marginalized themselves with over 81% of the American people. And the screaming of the NRA gun-nuts, and the antics of knuckle-draggers like this do more to ensure the outcome of gun-control measures than anything else they could do. I think the Brady Campaign should cut these guys a check for "[Lobbying] Services Rendered." :rofllol

What if the TeaBaggers threw a gun-rally...and nobody came?

Tea Party Gun Rally Runs Into Fundraising Trouble

WASHINGTON -- Less than 24 hours after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) delivered a Tea Party response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address, TheTeaParty.net, a well-known conservative group, reached out to supporters to say that it is "deeply embarrassed" to have failed to raise enough money in the last several weeks to fund a nationwide series of pro-gun rallies scheduled for Feb. 23.

"Last week we announced that we needed to raise $100,000 to market the Day of Resistance to make sure that there are HUGE crowds at all of these rallies," read the Wednesday email from outreach director Dustin Stockman. "Unfortunately we remain well short of our goal. As of writing we have only raised $26,125.72 towards the $100,000 goal."

Stockman added that the TeaParty.net team "takes complete responsibility for [the fundraising] failure.

Colorado House Passes Four Bold, New Gun Bills..

Gun debate spurs DEATH threats at Colorado Capitol (VIDEO)

DENVER - The debate over gun policy is cranking up tension at the state capitol. Several Democrats in the State House of Representatives say they've received death threats this week.

One was on a voicemail for Democrat Joe Salazar of Thornton, who shared the aggressive message with 9NEWS.

The caller starts out by calling Salazar a "f-ing fascist." The voicemail message continues, "You want to outlaw magazines? Come and f---ing take them. You willing to kill the f---ing outlaw magazines, because you will f---ing die."

Listen to voicemail

And the Capitol Police had to throw out a lobbyist from the "Rocky Mountain Gun Owner's Association" for threatening a REPUBLICAN lawmaker on the floor!! (Rep. Cheri Gerou (R-Evergreen)) Wow... She's MY State-Rep... (I keep voting against her; and I think we might actually put in a Dem from Evergreen/Conifer in the near future!)

Wow... Jus' keepin' it classy there, gun-nuts...

And....PLEASE Jus' keep doin' what yer doin'...... :pop
