Joe just said what Democrats believe, women can't protect themselves and they can't be counted on to negotiate a fair wage for themselves so they need equal pay legislation.
Even though I know binders of women who are tough negotiators.

There just seems to be a contradiction on how we treat women. Are they still the weaker sex that need special rights? Mark Udall seems to think so. He just sent me an e-mail trumpeting his support for the Violence Against Women act. But just this month, the Sec'y of Defense said women are tough enough to fight alongside men in combat...despite the military dealing with an epidemic of sexual assaults against women in the military. Just gets a little confusing.
Tough enough to fight Al Quaida, not tough enough to negotiate a raise.

Something the Dog Said wrote: "We were having a public policy debate on whether or not guns makes people safer on campus. I don't believe they do," he said. "That was the point I was trying to make. "If anyone thinks I'm not sensitive to the dangers women face, they're wrong. I am a husband and father of two beautiful girls, and I've spent the last decade defending women's rights as a civil rights attorney."
House Speaker Mark Ferrandino, D-Denver, called Salazar a "great legislator and a person who has worked hard in support of women.
"Whatever his words may have been and however much those words are being taken out of context, he did the right thing to take responsibility," Ferrandino said.
If this guy were a rep, he would be crucified....yet women sit silent here...amazing..
Exactly If a republican had made the same statement the left would ba all over him like a dog with a fresh bone. I only posted this to point out the hyprocrocy of the left. Since when has a Republican made a dumb statement and the left took the time or even cared to look "at their entire body of work"? That's a good one.
To SC if you don't feel you should be carrying a firearm, then by all means don't. Even if you don't want to carry, going through the CCW classes, that are offered by several folks right here on 285 Bound would be very beneficial and educational. I do know women who do feel comfortable carrying a firearm, and do so on a daily basis.
I know, that's why I said:
[quoteemSC:nzqzgg5p]Does that mean I think other women shouldn't have that right? No. Like I said, we need to be discussing all the options to make campuses safer, and CCW may or may not be a part of that. I don't know.[/quoteem:nzqzgg5p] I have no problem with it being an option for other women and am glad they have that opportunity if that's what they prefer. As long as the benefits outweigh the risks, I'm all for allowing CCW on campuses - that's the point i was trying to make. Not that this should be used to further an agenda, as Salazar's comments were weak and pathetic if the rest of his speech followed that clip (I intensely dislike clips like that, they can be taken out of context and twisted so very easily) but to analyze the facts of what's reality and make good policy based on that.
Did anyone else look for the rest of his speech? I'm sorry, I have to run to a video shoot for Mountain Connection and don't have time to do so. Did he really mean that women should wait for someone to come rescue them? That's what I'd like to know, because if he actually said that, then yes, I'd be all over his ass for being so stupid. Based on this clip, it's not said and I dislike him being misrepresented that way if so.

Depending on the kindness of strangers? Decades ago, Kitty Genovese was brutaly killed after screaming for help because her neighbors ignored her. I think people these days are even more likely to ignore rape whistles and cries for help.
Back when I lived on a college campus, crimes against women and others were deliberately under-reported because the school didn't want parents to think their kids weren't safe even though we were surrounded by a crime ridden area of downtown. While CU and CSU are in much better neighborhoods, combining binge drinking, young stupid males, etc, women should be allowed to legally protect themselves.
I haven't heard of any issues at CU or CSU with students carrying concealed, has anyone else?

Survival of the fittest, the smartest, and the most prepared... no matter what sex you are. These days, anyone dumb enough to rely on the kindness of strangers or the response of a cop is just rolling the dice on their safety.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

But then, I can understand how such a subtle distinction would be lost on right-wingers. I guess I can understand your confusion.
Deflect much?
So you think women need extra protections and men should face extra punishments for attacking women as opposed to other men incuding at risk people like mentally deficient or handicapped?
