Liberal Super PAC Attacks Mitch McConnell's 'Chinese' Wife

A Democratic group is under sharp criticism for controversial online messages about Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s wife. Recently, the group turned its attention to McConnell’s wife, former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, with a focus on her race.

In a Feb. 14 Twitter message, Progress says: "This woman has the ear of (Sen. McConnell)—she's his wife. May explain why your job moved to China!"

This is interesting. The pac is

"His group's first order of business is to find candidates to take on McConnell from both the Democratic Party in the general election and the Republican Party in a primary challenge. As Politico reported on Monday, Progress Kentucky is in contact with Tea Party groups across the Bluegrass State to try to convince a credible conservative to run against McConnell in the primary."

Perhaps they assume that since all r's are racist this is the best way to reach them. There is one in every barrel.

Here is something the SPac founder said. Not something we hear every day from a democrat.

"It may seem strange that a liberal Democratic organization would be working with Tea Party supporters, but Reilly said there are important areas in which the two groups agree.

"They are just as concerned with [McConnell's] corruption and crony capitalism -- some of the things that he's done over the years in terms of earmarks," Reilly said. "They are just as much concerned about those things as people on the left are. They're looking for candidates that can deliver that type of message, and we're looking at potentially supporting those kind of candidates who can deliver that good-government, anti-corruption type of message."

I find their comments disgusting. I'm glad to see this update at the end.

UPDATE 4:25 p.m.

The head of the Kentucky Democratic Party is coming out against Progress, telling WFPL their comments have no place in the 2014 Senate race.

"There is no question that Sen. McConnell needs to go, and that Kentuckians deserve someone in the Senate who is working to bring all Kentuckians a brighter future," says KDP Chairman Dan Logsdon. "However, these kinds of comments are deplorable and have absolutely no place in Kentucky, and frankly are just the kind of divisive politics that Sen. McConnell himself has used for too long."

According to Politico a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee called the tweets "inappropriate."

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
