Meet the Re-call candidates not until after ballot is mailed

Per a post on another website Mr. Koller stated that a venue to meet and ask questions to the candidates involved in the current re-call of the Evergreen Fire Board will not happen until April 3rd which is after ballots are mailed.

There is something really wrong with this and if anyone reading this can help out with another place to hold a meeting prior to the ballots going out please, please let me know (Mr. Koller indicated that they are open to it).

I am at a conference March 15th – 23rd but will do whatever I can to help you out this week before I leave.

What group/politician do you know who waits until a ballot goes out before having a public forum?

Please put the word out to all Evergreen Residents you know they should wait to vote until after this meeting I am sure they will want to know what these people are all about.

Per Mr. Koller there are the rules to be followed at the April 3rd meeting.

EFPD Board Recall Committee - Rules of Engagement for Presentations, Debates, and Q&A

If you invite representatives from EFPD Board Recall Committee or EFPD Board Candidates Committee (committee) or any candidate(s) sponsored by EFPD Board Candidates Committee for a presentation, Q&A, or debate, you are agreeing to the following rules for the event. The same rules apply when you attend an event organized by the committee to which you were invited and/or choose to attend:

1. We want our audience to be able to get to, attend, and leave the event without being solicited or harassed. Local law enforcement is informed about the event and will be called if problems occur.
2. We want the event to contribute to the education of the public about issues and candidates so they can build their opinion for the election. We hope for lively discussions, but we want them to remain civil and respectful.
3. Unless otherwise stated, there are no interruptions allowed during the presentation. Questions should be noted and asked during the Q&A.
4. There will be a facilitator, who is in charge of the microphone. He/she will bring the microphone to the person wanting to speak.
5. When the person has completed his/her statement/question, the microphone is handed back to the facilitator.
6. The committee representative or candidate will get the microphone after each statement/question in order to respond.

If you can not agree to these rules, you should not attend events organized by one of our committees or invite us to attend one of your events.

Thank You,

EFPD Board Recall Committee / EFPD Board Candidates Committee

Recalls are vital, and are a good thing. Unfortunately, the can also be undertaken for the wrong reasons. We have rights in this country, and responsibilities on how we exercise those rights.

I don't think recalls are bad. I think this recall effort was started for the wrong reasons and hope that it fails.

Once again in an attempt to mislead and to provide false information to the community, the Recall Board has embellished the bio of one of the candidates to make the candidate appear that she has more fire service experience than she really has…..

Jodee Kesten

Jodee has been with the New York City Fire Department for 6 years as a professional EMS (Emergency Medical Technician) firefighter. She's trained in interior, as well as, exterior firefighting, is certified for rescue operations, including use of jaws of life, and has obtained her emergency medical education at a New York hospital. Jodee has also worked in Advertising/Marketing for a well-known magazine. As a long-term resident of Evergreen, Jodee has served the community in various roles; working for the Senior Resource Center, the Life Care Center and serving on the PTA board of local schools. She currently devotes her time to her family and raising her children.

In today’s candidate bio in the Canyon Courier it states, “As a candidate in the recall election of four Evergreen Fire Protection District board members, Evergreen resident Jodi Kesten brings more than six years experience as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the New York City Fire Department.”

The article and bio makes you believe that this candidate was a firefighter/EMT with New York City and in reality she was not an EMT / firefighter with New York City Fire Department as clearly stated in the Recall bio because the FDNY does not have EMT / firefighters. You are either an EMT / Paramedic working in the EMS division of FDNY or you are a firefighter NOT both..…FDNY does not have any volunteer firefighter they are all paid. And yet the Recall group portrays her to be an EMT / Firefighter that spent six years on the New York City Fire Department.

And to embellish even more the article in the Canyon Courier states:

“While serving with the New York rescue squad in the 1990s, Kesten said she went on 2,000 calls a month and kept up-to-date with her training.”Two-thousand calls per month!!?? Holy cow….that comes to running 66.66 calls per day if she worked every single day of the month. This is SUPER EMT / FIREFIGHTER WOMEN!!! And she had time to train…..

So my question for Kesten is which department was Kesten a firefighter on…because it was certainly not FDNY as clearly implied in the Canyon Courier article and the Recall group’s bio.

And here in Evergreen, the bio and the article states she worked at the Senior Resource Center. I checked with the Senior Resource Center…..they don’t have her ever receiving a check by the name of Kesten.

More lies and misinformation by the people who want to oversee our fire department.
