Bill Maher says

"You know what?” Maher responded, “Rich people … actually do pay the freight in this country."

"I just saw these statistics. I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals — you could actually lose me. It's outrageous what we're paying — over 50 percent. I'm willing to pay my share, but yeah, it's ridiculous."

Ick. I don't know if I want Maher as an ally but he does speak the truth.

Frogger....when you consider for any given item (and studies abound) say a loaf of bread at an out the door cost of $2.50......that portion of tax on the item is as high as 75%.....25% is for materials, labor, store overhead. The store overhead also includes many taxes (sales, employee benefits to State and Feds, local utility taxes, etc).

We are taxed overall as citizens at at least 75% of income before taxes......all of us.....and 10-12 MILLION civil service people are mainly the recipients.......FED, STATE, LOCAL......but we demande the services and we always pay......no "Wizard" in Kansas Dorothy....

I note that Sicily is to tax bank deposits soon.....about 80 BILLION Euros in deposits.....some large and international....will OBAMA approach this as he squirms out of the massive depression and debt we are mired in today ??......all approaches are on the table so he says..

Looks like Cyprus is going to backtrack on taxing deposits. They might just have to quit the Euro.
