President Obama in 2009 told federal agencies that no-bid contracts were “wasteful’’ and “inefficient.’’ Four years later, his administration spent more money on non-competitive contracts than ever before.
Federal agencies awarded $115.2 billion in no-bid contracts in fiscal year 2012, an 8.9 increase from $105.8 billion from 2009, according to government data. The jump unfolded even as total contract spending decreased by about 5 percent. Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon were top recipients of sole-source contracts.
Where are all the folks that were complaining about Bush, and the Halliburton, Blackwater etc no bid contracts. I guess it's different when their guy is giving away the store.
Amazing that Obama promised to fix so many of Dubya's mistakes but just makes it worse.
Patriot Act.
Gitmo.
Debt Levels
No Bid Contracts
I thought he would win both elections and I was hopeful he would fix some of the Bush era/error, but the only stuff he has done is make things worse. The expense of Medicare Part "D"? Now he added Obamacare to it and private insurance prices are increasing still
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
"As President Obama’s second term unfolds, few — if any — families will see the $2,500 in health insurance savings he promised four years ago. The White House is now clinging to the hope that premiums won’t rise quite as fast as they have in the past.
Premiums have increased by an average of $3,065. And they’re about to go up even more, as Obamacare takes effect during the president’s second term.
At the end of 2012, Mark Bertolini, the CEO of Aetna, the third-largest health insurer in the country, warned that many consumers would face “premium rate shock” with the advent of Obamacare’s major insurance regulations in 2014. He predicted that unsubsidized premiums would rise 20 to 50 percent, on average.
For some people, premiums would double. “We’re going to see some markets go up as much as 100 percent,” Bertolini told Bloomberg News."
Remember "we" voted for this...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
