Gun Free Zone Apps?

There is now available for both the I-Phone and Android devices that will show you which businesses and areas are gun free. Would you use such an application to know which businesses to avoid if you carry concealed legally? Or would you use it to patronize businesses that supported gun free zones?

And if you were a criminal, would you use this to find safer places to rob and commit mass murder?

I'd say all three, but more so the last one with how convenient "gun free zones" are.

Should be easy to set up a database in a few years to determine if gun free zones are safer.

Maybe we already know the answer, if the an area is declared to be gun free it is - until some crazy bastard comes charging into that space killing everyone in sight. Worse, does a gun free zone mean that first responders are not present but standing by else where?

I would much rather see weapons in the trained hands of educators, shop merchants, and citizens who have the skills and knowledge to safely own and operate weapons in the defense of those who cannot or will not defend themselves.

I would avoid any such app. The primary use of apps is tracking, even if you purchased the app. It would not take much imagination to see that users of this app would mostly be gun owners. The government could possibly be the creator of this type of app.

YES...I would use such an app to visit as many of those businesses as possible to personally THANK THEM for telling the gun-nuts to leave their hardware somewhere else instead of bringing it in to my business.

Assuming that local law enforcement hasn't set up inspection points, you could go from being a citizen minding his own business to a potentially dangerous criminal simply because you are carrying a firearm. Having a CCW buys you all kinds of penalties in a gun free zone and it goes a long way toward letting the bad guys get off the first shots and doing the most damage before law enforcement can respond.

If you think we are living in a time that LE isn't paying more attention to people who have CCW permits and "gun nuts" in general I suggest you re-think the situation.

Well, I listened to the Sheriffs of Park and Jeffco this evening. It sure did not sound like people with CCW's are on their list of issues.

Hey LJ, perhaps the app will have a thank you text button so you can just broadcast your appreciation over the web, this may be safer, since gun free zones are likely to be a little less safe.
