Invasive species? I know it is politically incorrect to say so but sometimes the invading species are actually an improvement to the system. Rainbow and Brown trout displaced the native Cutthroats because they we're hardier and could exist in many more areas.

Rainbow and brown trout were/are intentionally and continuously introduced (Stocked). That is not invasive. Brook Trout were once stocked too. I don't think losing access to cutthroat in transitional streams is an improvement. Now you can only find them in the high lakes and streams where other species are not currently stocked. Althought we found brown trout way up the drainages in the Mt. Evans area (Vance Creek has some big ones). I know some DNR and DOW folks that think Brown trout stocking may have been a mistake in some states.

The browns are more resilient to temps and polution and are big eaters of other younger trout. You will notice there is more of an effort to protect native cutthroat species now. How about the plan to kill all the introduced Lake trout in Yellowstone Lake or trying to remove all the pike in 11 Mile and Tarryall.

I think it is important to balance the fisheries for both the citizens and native wildlife.
