Steubenville's NAACP President Says Rape Victim Was Drunk And Willing

In shocking comments, the president of the Steubenville chapter of the NAACP, Royal Mayo, places the blame for the rape case that has shocked the nation on the 16-year-old victim.

Royal Mayo, a lifelong resident of the Ohio city that gained national infamy following the rape of the girl by two Steubenville High School football players, says that attention should be focused on the role of the young woman, whom he calls the "alleged victim," saying she was drunk and wanted to go out with one of the football players.[/i] He also claims that other teens involved in the incident were let off easy, because they were "well-connected."

By 10:30 p.m., other partygoers were making catcalls and bets to urinate on her, according to a New York Times time line of the incident. The victim was “carried” out of the party by Richmond and Mays two hours later. In the car on the way to another party, Mays was videotaped digitally penetrating the victim. At a third party, the victim was unable to walk on her own, and, according to testimony, Richmond was seen digitally penetrating her from behind. In the videotaped testimonies from the teens at the party, they understood that something wrong was happening but did not stop the sexual assault, as reported by Gawker.

If a GOP or NRA or Tea Party leader had made this statement it would be headline news on all the MSM stations and all the newspapers in the country. They would be calling for their head on a platter. The hypocrisy of the left in allowing the NAACP leader to get away with making this ignorant statement is appalling.

I would love to forget gender and color... I wonder when the race baiting left is going to let us? And that takes me back to my original statement. If this comment was made by a Tea Party member, or someone in the GOP... or a white person period... it would be front page news for 2 weeks. You agree?

Agree. The Left, people like Joe Biden and Al Sharpton get passes when they are insensitive by their press. And the Right gets mocked for harmless stuff, like LJ running for months with Mitt's statement that all the trees are the same height.

Yep, this may find it's way deep into the NYT, but you won't hear the lefty clowns in the media making a big deal out of it... he's one of their own after all. And there is overwhelming historical evidence that you are right, if this was a white conservative, he would be getting fried by the worthless media.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

This doesn't have anything to do with left or right. It has everything to do with a society that loves to judge. We want to believe that bad things only happen to bad people, so we all pick up our stones at the first opportunity and search for someone to cast them at. During a holy week as this one is, we should all reflect on our own behavior.

I wouldn't mind a simple answer to my question... "If this comment was made by a Tea Party member, or someone in the GOP... or a white person period... it would be front page news for 2 weeks. You agree?"

Im appalled by this kind of statement no matter who makes it, and the insinuation that he gets a pass because he is a black leader..... Do we know if he is conservative or liberal? No. Does it matter? No. He's an ass.
